SILENCED VOICES OF THE INNER CHILD ART QUILT
Silienced Voices © Geri Finio

Geri designed and made this quilt for The Starting Point in Westmont, NJ where it is displayed in the main lobby. Each hand and quote was authored by an adult survivor whose voice was silenced through childhood abuse. Through the art quilt, Geri hopes to raise awareness for the invisible scars of childhood trauma, and offers a forum for the silenced voice of a child who has survived into adulthood. Oftentimes, survivors are not acknowledged for the courage and strength it takes to manage the pain caused by abuse and the journey to end the cycle. Click on the art quilt to see the photoshow.

If you are interested in sponsoring an art quilt for your specific organization, please contact Geri for details.

MARCH 2010

Joan Elliott, known worldwide for her cross stitch designs and books, brings 35+ classic Asian motifs to machine embroidery. The book's 24 projects will show you how to use designs to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with simple embellished cards, a banner, silk scarf, napkins and table runner, garden tote bag and visor, journal cover, and more. All designs are included on the CD-ROM that accompanies the book, with each design presented in 6 machine formats as well as in black and white PDFs so hand-embroiderers, like you, can create transfers for your own work.

All embroidery sewouts in the book were completed by Geri Finio from Studio 187 for Joan Elliott. Click on book to be directed to Amazon where you can order the book and peek inside!
